Brand new for A/W 2020, a stunning collection of limited edition pieces, in hand chosen fabrics, this “collection within a collection” contains some of the iconic Hayley Hanson bags reimagined in fabric, trimmed, of course in our sustainable, world exclusive leather, the Hiraeth collection encapsulates the colours and textures from Hayley’s home.
Hiraeth, is a Welsh word that is not translatable, it means a longing, a wistful want for that comfort and familiarity of home. The concept behind this collection was to encapsulate the atmosphere and colours of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, the areas the farm looks onto, and the area around the farm, and the farm itself, to provide a portable yet tangible connection to this remarkable landscape.
From the muted tones of mist on the hill, and the light reflecting from the mountains, to the shadowy glacier valleys and peaty soils, there is always something new to see, yet the landscape itself remains dependably the same. It was this timelessness that inspired Hayley to create a range, which she feels reflects her experience growing up, and living in such a unique place.
After receiving a Stipend funding from the Black Mountains land use partnership, Hayley felt a renewed sense of responsibility toward the landscape, and one of her favourite sayings of “grow where you are planted” really coming to the foresight, these beautifully textured and coloured British fabrics are married with Hayley`s completely unique Welsh leather, using a combination of both ancient and ultra-modern techniques, the collection is ultimately a tribute to home, to belonging.
